Get Involved
Volunteers
Local and international
volunteer programs play a key role within Habitat for Humanity
International – Bangladesh’s program and projects as they contribute
directly towards meaningful development. Volunteering in Bangladesh’s
beautiful rural communities is a rewarding experience, which provides an
opportunity to spend time with families who are directly benefiting from
Habitat’s work.

Volunteers vary form students
to professional individuals, of all ages, who work together on building
houses for Habitat’s beneficiaries. There are local corporate, embassy,
church and school teams who volunteer with HFHI-B and donate towards house
building.
HFHI-B’s Global Village or GV
program is one of the most gratifying volunteer activities, which has
scope for adventure and social interaction. HFHI-B currently hosts 10 GV
teams on average every year. Recently teams have come from USA, UK,
Shanghai, Japan and Korea. Each team usually has 10-24 volunteers. These
teams come for approximately 10 – 14 days and contribute not only their
valuable volunteer labor, but also make financial contributions towards
the construction of the homes.

Corporate Social Responsibility
HFHI-B offers
different opportunities to enter into Corporate Social Responsibility
agreements with businesses and organizations. Most common is where HFHI-B
will host a Build event for a group of employees or interested people,
where the group spends a day building a house alongside a low-income
family.
A financial
contribution of the amount of one 'House Sponsorship Cost' is requested to
be provided per group of up to 25 people. Through this unique CSR
engagement, participants will be able to contribute in making a difference
in people's lives in a very practical and tangible way.

Benefits of a
Corporate Volunteering with Habitat:
Opportunities To Team Build With Co-Worker In
Your Organization
Building a
Habitat house with other members of your organization will give you an
opportunity to meet and get to know co-workers outside of those with whom
you already have working relationships. This interaction with many other
members of your organization will serve to strengthen your team by joining
everyone together in a common goal. It will give each member new
experiences to share with each other outside of the organization.
Marketing Your Organization
Building
a Habitat house will give your organization a chance to shine in the
public's eye. It can show everyone that you are genuinely involved in
giving back to the community. |
Chance To Give Back To Bangladesh
As a Habitat
house sponsor you will have a
unique
opportunity to work
with an international non-government organization in Bangladesh, and
impact
people's lives in a very practical way.
Your company will become part of the positive solution for community
revitalization across the country.
Providing Affordable Housing For A Very Low
Income Family
Your
organization will be helping to build a simple, decent and affordable
house with a low income family who would not ordinarily be able to afford their own
house. You will be able to turn this dream of owning a house into a
wonderful reality, at an affordable corporate contribution.
Meet Other Habitat Volunteers And Staff On The
Worksite
The
opportunity to meet and get to know people from all over Bangladesh is a
wonderful additional advantage.
Practice And/Or Learn Hands-On Practical Building
Skills
Whether you
are a master carpenter or have never seen a hammer in your life, being a
house sponsor and helping build a Habitat house is like no other practical
building experience in the world. Habitat provides house leaders who have
the experience to manage and guide you through the building of a Habitat
house - whether it is your first house or your fiftieth.
A Chance to Escape From
Your Desk Job!
What is so nice about
building a Habitat house is that it gives you the opportunity to get away
from your desk job. Whether it is during the week or weekend that you will
be building - you will certainly not go home with eyes that are tired from
staring at a computer screen.
